I'm not so sure you and Dug are talking about the same thing. It seems to me that Dug was saying that he already knew about the BA-Ascend deal, while you're saying that this is just another vaporware deal. (I don't follow ASND, so I don't know whether the BA Ascend deal was well-known before it was announced). As for whether BA can build a long distance network, I think it's a smart move by them. The FCC cannot stop them from building; they can only stop them from selling to customers. In the meantime BA can sell info services and video over the network. I don't think BA is that far away from getting FCC in region interLATA service authorization. Maybe 6 months to a year.
