As a long time assembly language programmer who has done some code for both the 8086 and 68000 series machines I have to agree that the 68000 was a better architecture. Compare the old Sun /3 and Sun /4 machines running Sun OS vs the IBM-AT and it's clones running vindows 2. (Forget the Apple Quadras, 'cause the MAC OS despite it's decent graphics is crap).

The main reason that Intel is king and the 68000 is dead is because IBM chose the 8088 over the 6800 for it's original PC. That's why I own INTC and not MOT. If it had gone the other way we programmers would probably have been happier, and the the 680x0 version of Windows NT would be on everyone's desktop. Probably a lot sooner too.
