Much in line with my expectations..... again <g>.

The licensing agreements with Hitachi, Sun etc. look a lot like Visigenic "ORB-of-choice" licensing, although I could be wrong - it would be somewhat consistent though with the 86% increase in VisiBroker revenue. Last year's Visigenic revenues included their ODBC-related stuff, so it is not easy to work out how much was related to VisiBroker, but I would guess around two-thirds, about $2.4m. This would give $4.5m of this quarter's Inprise revenues related to VisiBroker... an interesting number compared with Iona, for example.

It would be illuminating to find out exactly what is included in each of Inprise's new product categories - "enterprise products and services", "client/server and Internet products and services" and "Windows desktop products and services". Very precise percentages have been provided for the revenue shares of each, but we are still in the dark about what constitutes them. Which makes it all a fairly pointless exercise, and potentially misleading.

Interesting to note that the business - before interest income - ran at a loss last quarter. The full story in the 10Q will be worth watching out for.
