Any speculation how this announcement came to be??? Seems like Lucent bought the contract by bidding $2B. I would have guessed they were in third place behind Hughes and Siemens/P-Com. So much for letting each build a city. Instead of getting into a competition, they plop $2B on the table and say "take it or leave it"? It does make it interesting since Lucent and Lucent money is building out ARTT's network. Should make combining them much easier. Bernard, any comment on Lucent technology vs Hughes vs P-Com? I don't imagine you can go wrong with a company like Lucent. PS Why didn't any of you guys tell me this was coming! Dang, so much for all these great contacts, watching the stock tick by tick, and analyzing every option trade. They still catch you with your pants down.
