fascinating discussions that you folks break out into every once in a while...understanding where we have been and why (history) is critical
to where we can go.....!

"They were not listened to, they were drowned out by the "anti-commie" attitudes of the majority in the US; indeed, it was the self-interested rhetoric of the Soviet government itself as well the entrenched establishment in the US that was heeded for a number of reasons that I won't go into here."

Listen carefully to OUR own media these days, the few times when they are not discussing "Monica kissing Clinton's Wee wee" and you will hear propaganda emerging about the new enemy "..the liberal- environmentalist"..while we fight and in some cases re-fight the old battles a new global common enemy if you like is rapidly surfacing ..for lack of a better term its called 'Global warming"..prudence (which if you follow the Currency and Derivative threads we are EVIDENTALY short on ) would dictate we make very rapid adjustments to creating a new and vibrant economy based on conservation, renewable energy (solar-hydrogen primarily) and decentralization which our technology now enables..there is no time to lose and fighting a battle between those on the old way verses those who can see an emerging new way is/will be self defeating...

Comming back to Asia in particular with Japan as a starting point...with its rapidly aging population (twice The US?Canada rate) rate) experience from working there is that their purchasing power-desire is on a down slope, a trend that other developed nations like ours will need to face.

.One positive and beneficial way for Japan to move ahead and survive well is to convert their present over production into conservation, a solar hydrogen economy and decentralization of activity such as work , learning etc closer to neighborhoods and even into homes.. so people dont have to spend so much time moving about. In doing this they could reemerge as leaders.....not just as mimickers (not sure that is a word but what the hell you know what I mean) of an old Western model

..HAVING SAID THAT WE NEED TO BE ACCELERATING OUR EFFORTS TOWARDS THE SAME ...I HAVE AND AM.
