Dennis,
On recent splits--the last one for example--AOL waited until the earnings announcement.

BTW, today's Wall Street Journal has a story in section B about AOL's attempts to deal with the coming broadband world of Internet access, a topic frequently discussed on this thread. The article points up the difficulties AOL has finding its role in the cable-modem/DSL world. Are they an add-on service like a pay-for channel on cable? Are they a TV-plus service like Web TV? In fact, they are a POTS (plain old telephone service) dialup service--big problem long-term.

Also, here's a story on the same subject with a slighly different spin from CBS news: cbs.marketwatch.com
Best,
--Steve
