Neither... why do you ask? If you're asking because of my comments about IP over WDM, this result is one that Bucky and I came to after a long conversation. As you know Bucky is very high on ASND....but even he believes that long term (and I think ASND believes this too) that IP will be the network protocol and that the big pipes will be WDM.

I know that today this technology is not fully accepted or even available, but if IP is the network protocol then why convert to cells? Fundamentally ATM provides QoS for both real time and non-real time traffic...if IP approaches similar levels of QoS with packet IP protocols...why bother with cells and the associated overhead?
