I think you are right in that MSFT and SPYG will work this out. I do have a little fear that MSFT will be a little put off by SPYG's going public w/ their complaints and this may damage the long-term relationship. Let's hope that my thought here is wrong.
As far as this announcement not being that big of deal, I disagree. If you go back and read how much $ SPYG was plowing into the R&D, you'll note that their cash flow was very dependent on the revenue stream during 1H97.
In fact, w/ this bold direction SPYG has embarked on, one may want to look at the co. in a similar fashion as one would look at a small biotech firm that does have one or two good products out there, but are working on the mother of all w/ is consuming a huge portion of the co.'s resources.
