I think the main importance of the patents is that Ericsson might have a stronger negotiation position regarding W-CDMA than people have assumed. All they need to do is to tie up QCOM in courts and muddle the whole W-CDMA issue by stating that if they are infringing on patents, so is QCOM. Just *one* case where Qcom is obviously infringing and it's a whole new ballgame. For Nokia, keeping Qualcomm from wrecking W-CDMA would be a priority.
