Well I may have confused the issue by presenting it in the context of the Matthew Shepard tragedy. My question/issue is with our society You could separate the homosexuality lifestyle piece completely out of it if you wanted to.

From spectating at the sports arena to adds on tv, we are focused on that "All American" ideal. It includes being able to slosh down the most brewskies, conquests of the bedroom, winning at EVERY challenge whether it was a worthy proposition or not.

We send eighteen year old young adults into a college atmosphere to assume responsibility (often for the first time in their lives) for decisions that years of adult experience might not even prepare us to deal with.

<<Where is the wisdom in sending our children, or ourselves to a culture where they are encouraged to put themselves in the most vulnerable position a human being could ever allow themselves to be (intoxicated) with the goal of going off to an unknown destination, with a stranger and availing their sexuality to this person?>>

I once heard a feminist comedian say of public school, "High school was great,....for the quarterback and his girl friend." I'm not sure how much this applies, but I thought it was funny.
