If they * genuinely * thought this was a "dead issue", why in the world would they still be here? Why continue to put so much of their time (and insults & presumptions & unsolicited "advice") into this one?

It makes no sense at all. None. There are, as I see it, only two options as to why the nays would still be here.
1) They are worried. Or 2) they are truly sadly desperate people who enjoy the problems of others'.

Either way, they are in desperate need of something - money <G> or a human personality.
