I honestly do not believe that to be the case. Let's face it, publically there is no more "stigma" attached to having children out of wedlock. "Single motherhood" is being vaunted in our society today. No, I think it really has it's nexus in the women's movements goal of removing "unwanted" pregnancy as an obstacle against a woman's personal objectives. The easiest way to do that was to "de-humanize" the unborn child. My point is that modern neo-natal science has revealed the unborn to be separate (but not equal) human entities, capable of survival at increasingly earlier and earlier stages of development, if allowed.

That's why I say the laws are completely "schizophrenic" on this issue now. If you want the unborn child, it has rights. If you don't want it, you can dispose of it. Sooner or later, mark my words, a court case will be brought again to establish whether or not the fetus has legal status as a person.

Example I used earlier. Why couldn't a convicted double murderer (of a woman and her fetus) bring a case to have the conviction overturned on the basis that the fetus did not have legal status as a human being according to Roe v. Wade and therefore could not be guilty of it's "murder". Think of the arguments that could be made.
