Cabletron's ATM Solutions Receive Internetweek-Approved Award in Industry Switch Comparison October 22, 1998 04:07 PM
ROCHESTER, N.H.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 22, 1998-- Networking Leader's SmartSwitches Get "All A's" in InternetWeek ATM Review
Cabletron Systems CS announced today it has won the InternetWeek-Approved award in an industry ATM switch comparison published in InternetWeek's October 19th issue.
Within the InternetWeek review, Cabletron's ATM solutions earned an A rating in each of the five categories evaluated, which included features, functionality, management, performance, price and value-add. This is the second year in a row that InternetWeek has singled-out Cabletron's world-class ATM at its University of Hawaii test site, with the SmartSwitch 2500 having earned Best-of-Breed honors one year ago.
"The InternetWeek-Approved award, along with our introduction of a comprehensive ATM solutions suite and aggressive ATM buyback promotion earlier this year, demonstrates Cabletron's intense focus on becoming a major ATM provider," said Allen Finch, senior vice president of worldwide marketing. "We are pleased to have such a well-respected publication such as InternetWeek recognize our ATM capabilities."
Cabletron's world-class SmartSwitch 6500 and 2500 ATM switches were used in conjunction with the company's award-winning SmartSwitch Router and SmartSwitch 2210 workgroup switch to create a high-capacity OC-12 ATM backbone network with backup and VLAN capabilities. Cabletron's management software, including the SmartSwitch ATM Administrator, SPECTRUM ATM Services Manager and SPECTRUM Enterprise Manager were also used.
