In most cases of child death, the party responsible for the loss is responsible for compensatory damages that are not available to the family of an unborn. This is specifically why the doctor performing a "partial birth" abortion must terminate the baby before it is fully outside the woman's body, otherwise, he or she would have killed a person. Having said that, as the law is currently interpreted, I still don't think it is my place to tell a woman that she cannot make that decision - the non-legal penalty is her's to deal with. I do see some hope on the horizon, though. In the form of what is known around the street as "the shot," which is an easy to get contraceptive and works for a fairly long period of time. Maybe reproductive prevention technology will allow us to put abortion back into the world of barbarism where it so richly belongs. Mr. K.
