Sam, the Stockman book is subtitled "Why the Reagan Revolution Failed." Hardly. In any case, I would love to read it, but it's out of print.
Besides, more recent reflections on the period have been much more generous. You know, books by Larry Kudlow, Dinesh D'Souza... Gosh, even the PBS special was even-handed and grudgingly respectful.
The only grudging respect that I can muster for the current regime is, "Well, at least he didn't bust the budget like most Democrats are wont to do." But in the end, in a democracy, we deserve our leadership. |
