WAY, LIKE TOTALLY WAY OFF TOPIC

joan,

that is extremely interesting to me. I had a very similar situation. When my two children were preschoolers, I decided that rather than have the "arguments" over which programs, how long, blah, blah, blah, I would just chuck the old set. Well, between my and my husbands parents you would have thought we had committed the most evil act. Whenever they would visit Grandparents, they'd always make sure the set was on so the children "wouldn't be deprived".

I really didn't care about it that much on any philosophical level or anything, just wanted to avoid the hassle. But my children, like yours, are avid readers to this day (although oddly enough, my son is in the film industry, creating images). I'll tell you a very funny story about how my son learned to read at a very young age offline.
