Au contrare, Joe Prang came in when the company was already a 'mature' start-up which was three years old and on the verge of posting its first profitable quarter. That hardly makes him a founder. Which is why he has less than 1/4th the amount of stock that Romesh Wadhwani has. Mr. Prang will be missed, he is not technically leaving just yet as he is staying on to handle special projects and the like, but as long as Wadhwani is in place there should be no loss of continuity or vision. I would instead look at it as an opportunity to step-up the level of experience in that position. Just as with the VP of marketing position and VP of Sales, the men who were replaced were excellent but the men who replaced them are a different animal. They have experience with larger organizations and in BUILDING the larger organizations that their predecessors just did not have. You can look to the same here, in that the company now has an opportunity to go get that big name that the business community already knows. I would expect it to be a guy like ex-chief of Cadence, Costello, but not him specifically. He has a few too many fleas from the trouble Cadence faced the past few years in their business model. But definitely a guy like him that the industry knows well and respects. The person you bring on in 1994 with sales in the $12M range is not necessarily the same guy you bring in with sales closer to $100M. There is a certain reality that a company can outgrow its executive team. Smart companies recognize that and adapt. If they are extremely lucky they will find a way to keep Joe around. He is an extremely effective and capable executive who has done a fantastic job for this company to date.

Aspect's problems right now are mostly external from a stock price perspective. I would blather on about it here but as my first posts here notes, I have already done that over on Yahoo pretty extensively. Read those and then let me know what you think going forward. Good luck.
