ok, rob, i was just throwing out a number. so it may not be six months. it also may not be years as you say. heck, if i'm doing business just fine 2 years from now then to heck with a y2k fix ;-) if i'm not i'm gonna get it fixed right away.

do you really think between 2000 and several years later some company is going to sit crippled by y2k? i don't think that sounds reasonable so maybe we both have some work to do ;-)

if i pay ibm $5 million more for services and $5 million less for hardware and then reverse the two figures i don't see the whopping profits you see ;-) in fact, service agreements seem to be where the margins are so it may mean less money. we'll have to see.

if yu are lonbg ibm then i hope it keeps going up. why? this buyback ponzi scheme will result in a nasty little downside if it ever blows up due to a bad economy or reduced it ezxpenditures. i just don't see companies running out to replace pentiums in droves the way you do. they definitely won't if difficult times hit the economy.
