Yikes! Wotta thread!

I'm putting on my galoshes and mud-repellent raincoat before entering.

Seems to me that:

1) Ted is entitled to his opinion, and even his thread
2) He is at least partially right, in that astute short-term trading of CRUS would have been a whole lot better than buying and holding, IF you knew where to buy and where to short.

That's my problem. I don't think anyone knows, not even Ted. You can look at the '96 chart and see three spikes above 23 and two spikes below 15. So you can say, "I'll short at 23 or above and long at 15 or below". That strategy would have made you lots of money in 1996.

I have three problems with that:

1) It's a buncha Monday-Morning Quarterbacking
2) No one, but NO ONE, can tell which way the next swing will go
3) Ted is recommending a short position at what looks like the bottom of another cycle. Having said #2, I don't know, but it just seems to me that the risks of shorting at this point are much bigger than the risks of shorting at 23.

In any case, it's threads like this that make SI such a blast to surf.
