I had a friend name Clarence.
Clarence died recently.
I did not even know he passed.
After 3 days, I said where is Clarence…..
He died without legs.
He always wanted to walk.
He enjoyed the sunrise,
enjoyed the fresh air,
enjoyed his nicotine,
he always wanted to walk
Clarence was in his early 50's.
Clarence was a medic in Vietnam.
he was a very proud man.
He did not talk about what he saw in Vietnam.
I asked him,
but he did not tell me.
He always wanted to walk.
Clarence was not really a sick man.
I think he just got tired.
The system would not allow Clarence to have legs.
Three times the system tried to provide legs.
The prosthetist measured,
built the legs,
tried those suckers on,
took them back,
then went out of business after 19 years….
Another prosthetist took on the call,
was never paid,
came back and talked a good talk,
never brought the legs,
where are those legs….
Clarence could not get up and walk away.
Clarence was not a dumb man,
he could sense the frustration,
he was not a sick man,
where are those legs,
Clarence died,
and I did not even notice……
