I don't think the Mormons were exactly sources of depravity, even when they were polygamous. Actually, jack mormons still are I guess, and they live pretty moral lives otherwise, don't they?

Multiple wives are permitted by several religions besides the LDS, e.g. Islam which allows four. Are those religions wrong? Too liberal, perhaps? (I think the punishment for adultery under Islam is beheading, not so? Conservative enough for you?)

I think the real reason this is generally opposed is that it is intuitively seen as a form of reproductive imperialism. Now maybe if women could do the same thing it would be accepted, ala Robert Heinlein's scheme. Ayn Rand would have approved, anyway.
