The CEO admitted that the driving force in their BIOS business (80% of revenues) is in the sub-$1000 segment where they get an average price of 50 CENTS! This is much lower than the $1.50-3.00 that we saw in the past couple of years. Profitable? Maybe with no R&D!

Why doesn't management focus more on enterprise server products and services? They just had a significant enterprise server conference (with Intel/Microsoft), they have a Merced design center, Intel is putting in 25 design centers of their own, they've spent considerable R&D on RomPilot, etc. and they claim that the server segment should actually INCREASE ASP of their BIOS products/services. What is it that is restricting PTEC to BIOS only in this space? PC BIOS is a dying market!

Someone on another board expected 15 cents to 20 cents for the quarter and one analyst at the conference call admitted that he'll be reducing his forecast for next year. The 8 cents isn't nearly as bad as the 50 cent BIOS that can only "theoretically go to zero" according to our wise CEO.
