tom, i believe $500 million or so is correct. the us government doesn't even borrow $500 billion a year. we know what spend thrifts they are ;-)

of course, they don't spend social security money on general expenditures. just like ibm doesn't borrow money in order to make stock buybacks possible. yeah, right... ;-)
