Hi Pancho, how are you doing? I totally agree with you- something is fishy with this market! Brings back memories of this spring and summer when all news was given a positive spin (remember ETEC- came out with horrible earnings and then proceeded to gain $5. the next day). Every time I go to the DBC site they post ridiculous articles on how the economy is back to bull mode and that problems are now behind us. If they can't find excuses for a rally they make them up! I am afraid this foolishness may go on for a month or two since it seems there is a concerted effort by many market forces to give the impression that the bull is back. But underlying conditions will win out since the fundementals are rotten. If this bear market is over it will have been by far the shortest bear market in history- the average one lasts 18 months and eats away at most of the equity value of shares. The US has become quite cocky and somewhat arrogant thinking it is beyond recession and economic slowdown. It is when your guards are down that you will be surprised.
