Dear sivhap: It will come a lot more quickly than the "experts" think.
If ATT and TWX work out a deal the RBOC's had better get moving. The compelling thing about XSDL is the streaming content - the live media. Now unless the RBOC's wish to rewire to the curb or demarc with fibre they had better get moving on XSDL. In the meanwhile it behooves ORCTF to learn how to manufacture their devices wherein they can realize the 57% margins as other specific chip companies are able to. If they can't produce the margins people will invest elsewhere in cos. that can - that is the terrible dicipline of capitalism .LEVL which produces gigabit ethernet chips and maintains 57% gross margins is provided as an example. There are many others. I would gladly spend 60 per month at the outset for service that would allow me to get my phone and entertainment on one wire. DT is betting heavily on this. As soon as that happened capitalism would kick in and the price war between the RBOC's and the cable co's. would begin. Text based web pages are not the goal streaming media is and to that end ORCTF should be preparinfg itself to become an efficient supplier. We will find out in the 2nd qrtr. of '99. And because their other alternate investments to make in this exploding field in companies that do make a profit I believe shareholders are defecting to those other opportunities and thus the softness in ORCTF's shares.

John Dowd
