The market psychology has yet to plummet to recessionary levels. In a true recessionary period, pricing stocks far into the future for expected gains virtually disappears. I think that the worst is behind the world-wide economic situation but many stocks have not fully adjusted to the new scenario. Analysts have lowered their expectations for the close-in quarters but are overly bullish about the prospects going into next year, IMO. This reflects the overall thinking that current shortfalls in sales and earnings growth will be with us for only a few months. While that may be true for some companies, the overall economy will continue to be effected until at least the middle of next year and many earnings projections will be revised downward.
