I think they already have for the time being. I don't see earnings improving in 99. I still see a major corporate earnings recession ahead. The S&P is currently trading at 27.5 times earnings. When investors wake up to the reality, they will sell off further rate cuts in 99. I don't think Greenspam and Rubin can save this market; they can only forestall the inevitable!
