CPQ already owns a lot of network component technology - they bought thomas-conrad and networth in '95, which gave them switch and end components, and they have developed a lot of in-house capability as well. The cabletron deal gave them near-term products without the need to support redundant development efforts. I don't think any additional networking acquisitions are in the plan, or necessary.
