The Coppermine will be a 0.18 micron Katmai processor packaged in a Slot 1 configuration. This will be targeted at the Performance Desktop segment. Cascades will be limited to 2-way SMP configurations.

The Cascades now appears to be a 0.18 micron Katmai processor with up to (Intel hasn't released the actual number) 2 MegaBytes of ON CHIP L2 cache. The cache may be "configurable" as 512 KB, 1 MegB or 2 MegB to allow for different pricing and performance targets and to handle the various yields on the 2 MegaBytes of physical cache.

Cascades will be a Slot2 packaged device targeted at high end Workstations and Servers, and will directly support 2 and 4-WAY SMP configurations.

There is a possibility that Intel may use the same physical die for Coppermine AND Cascades, but I don't believe the original Coppermine included the on-chip L2 cache.
