Not sure what Tom or Jim is using, but you might find this link helpful.

Try various criteria, but it does have the capability of screening for high beta stocks. I strongly suggest using positive eps growth rates for several years for smaller capitilization stocks.

Once you have a set of criteria you like, the charts are available directly from the sorted page.

I then like to use:

geocities.com

To look at 65 day moving average, long term MACD (34,89,13 signal), OBV and money flow.

Stocks that are moving higher should be considered.

One last thing is to go to the detailed research area on Yahoo! and look at the earnings revision trend by the "analysts". if it is positive, then...
