Skeets, the idea that IBM has to bribe people to buy its crap is a positive is laughable. Yes, the finance operation had good margins in an economic recovery. Now, with even this slight downturn, this will become another Bankers Trust story.

The good news for IBM management is that they will take all the losses in a one-time writeoff some day in the future and the shareholders aren't bright enough to figure out that one. Or, at least they haven't figured off all the writeoffs and options scams and stock buybacks in the past.
