ULTR is advertising Travel*Star in the Wall Street Journal. This is really great news!! I've pulled the ad and its really pretty good. the package includes one year of the Protection One First Assist Service (the 800 number you call for help) and a carrying case, which is why the Total Value is $649.95. Special offer price is $50 higher than radio shack, but it includes the first assist service, which i don't think the radio shack offer does. ULTR does a good job marketing the verbal display advantages over "distracting moving maps." (i don't think this model has voice, but i understand they're working on a new generation that would have voice/oral capabilities.)

i called the 800 number for ordering to get information. (they're sending me a brochure.) the organization handling the phones is Travel USA, which is selling all of ULTR's products. (this is smart outsourcing = low overhead for ULTR.) the person i talked with said they were selling a lot of travel*star units. this could be really good new for ULTR. obviously, ULTR makes more money per unit on direct sales, but incurs advertising and telemarketing costs. if sales are good, ULTR will make a ton of money this fall.

finally, the advertising in WSJ is really smart from a shareholders perspective. not only is ULTR reaching a good target audience for this product, but it is getting exposure to investors as a GPS player. this can only help spark new investor interest in ULTR. very clever. three cheers for biernbaum!
