Cheng-yeh: I received the same email as you did. Someone from Etrade also called me and left a message on the answering machine regarding my complaints. I think all the investors who could not get in can not do anything. That is the chance you take with online trading. The problem with Etrade is that they have these down times too much of the time. Further, when it is a high volume day, either I can not get in or going between screens is extremely slow and thus effective trading is made near impossible. I think we have to allow some down times with online trading, however, Etrade is down on a regular basis. Many many investors have written on internet chat lines that they have been unable to logon to Etrade at various times.

I will probably stick with them through this year and if they continue to have down times then I will move that account. But as I have suggested you should have two online accounts. Any online broker may be down at some point in time. If and when the long-distance telephone rates go down, then I will shift my trading to a direct telephone connection. Right now, it is too expensive for me. Therefore, I have to expect some problems using the Internet online brokers and just hope for the best. Good luck to you.
