The big driver for next generation PC's late next year will be HDTV.

With the advent of reasonably priced 21"-25" monitors hooked up to a fast PC you will see convergence between PC's, Internet and TV.

Few folks are going to buy a $7-10000 large screen HDTV set.

Intel has licensed technology (from Hitachi I think) for HDTV software decoding.

For under $3-4K you will have a reasonable machine, DVD, faster Internet access (cable/ADSL), DVD and playback of HDTV by end of next year.

I agree that for business apps in regular offices you don't need all the power. The real drivers will be servers and home markets IMHO.
