miss penni, My grandfather, who we lived with in Milwaukee 'till I was 5 years old, killed and plucked chickens in the coal bin in the basement. I tried to help pluck, but was probably more of a nuisance. He would buy them live from somewhere within walking distance. I recall that he made soup from the head and entrails for himself. He came from Czechoslovakia about 1900. They had very little to eat there, and learned to use everything.

The next time your family rejects your homemade soup send it to me. Me love soup. I will pay shipping and a stipend.
