I agree that AMD is trying to make money. But from the sound of your posts, it's like you're chiding Intel for doing just that. With language like "Intel is skewing the price/performance curve," a tinge of hypocrisy shows.

Anyway, we can argue over a point which was moot a long time ago, but we do agree that the server market, an area where pure performance translates to high margins, is looking like a big juicy steak to the K7 designers and marketers. Intel is entering this server market with some very exciting Xeon designs coming from Dell, Compaq, Sequent, etc., and even with the low volumes, Xeon will definitely contribute to the bottom line. It's no wonder why AMD is eyeing this market as well, and it's also no wonder why AMD isn't singing the tired old slogan, "No one really needs this much performance."
