In line with making a case for LEAPS. I am new to investing and so look at LEAPS as equivalent of buying stock only with much better returns. Short term options are hard to guage since they require a lot closer monitoring. My first set was INTC Jan 99, $130 (when stock was at $102). It doubled quickly enough (two months). Now I have bought into Jan 99, $ 150, 170. I agree the premium I paid for them is higher than 97 options (Jan, Apr, Jul) but they seemed easier to invest from a risk stanpoint than 97. This thread has been very valuable in showing me the thought processes that go into trading short term options.

Many thanks to all you contributors, significantly to Jack Rains, Paul E., Jules, Bernard Newman

JMAC (your recent real time commentary on buying at year end low was very interesting to watch /read).

Rajeev

PS: I do not want airfare from INTC stock moves, but merely wish to pay down my house.)
