I have just finished reading the descriptive sections of the ICOT SEC merger document referenced there. It makes fascinating reading as it shows that Amati and Motorola are basically on schedule for introducing the Overture 8 with the new chip in early '97 and the VDSL product in late '97 (at the earliest).

It also outlines Amati's inability to meet delivery dates for product in '95 for field trials due to financial problems. In my opinion this explains the preference for some customers to contract with Westell, etc.

I also noted that the Motorola/Amati agreement provides for 'best pricing' to Amati for the new chip and delivery preference.

While many of these points are probably known to some on this thread, the document does provide considerable insight into Amati's past, present and future path.
