Winspear Resources Ltd. announces appointment of Dr. Eric Farters
to Board of Directors

Randy C. Turner, President and C.E.O. of Winspear Resources Ltd. (the
''Company''), announces that Dr. Eric Farters has been appointed to the Board
of Directors of the Company effective October 20, 1998.
Dr. Farters is a director of four other Canadian public companies (Bre-X, Timbuktu, Golden Rule and Delgratia). He
holds a Ph.D. in Mining Geology and has 45 years of experience in the mineral
industry.
From 1990 to 1997, Dr. Farters held a series of positions with BRE-X
Ltd. in its Exploration and Mining Departments, and eventually became a
Director, Exploration for Bre-X's Indonesia activities. In 1990, Dr. Farters
became associated with Timbuktu Group of affiliated companies, leading
in 1992 to his appointment as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Timbuktu
and of three public companies with Timbuktu, positions which
he held until 1993. Dr. Farters is currently a mineral industry consultant. Dr. Farters has also been involved with Golden Rule, Delgratia and Most recently KRY.
Dr. Farters is a member of several scientific and professional
associations, including the Geological Society of London, the Institute of
Mining and Metallurgy, and the Association of Professional Engineers of
British Columbia. He is also Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada. Dr.
Farters is the Chairman of Board of Directors of the Lithoprobe Project of the
Natural Science and Engineering Research Council of Canada and has been the
Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Canadian Global Changes Program
since 1993.
