Kash, You hit a real sensitive spot there. HDTV is gonna be a big threat to PC's starting in the year 2000. Why??? Because people will spend 1000$ on the HDTV and only a few hundred on the PC or more likely the set-top box. HDTV will get a much larger portion of consumer's disposable $$$ than PCs will from 2000 on.

HDTV puts the emphasis on content. Just as TV matured, the emphasis went away from improving the hardware(to make money) to selling content( to make money).

DSP's will play a bigger part in the digital world. Texas Instruments already has known this for quite awhile. ASIC's will also be much more suitable as far as price performance goes.
