No choice. Companies are now expected to make early disclosure of *unfavorable* news in advance of their normally scheduled announcements.

That's why they said little or nothing in the last two quarters, when projections beat analyst expectations.

I'd like to know how much of the shortfall was due to PowerBook sales (good products w/high demand but short supply) vs. Performa sales (good products that needed good marketing.)

No argument with AAPL-bears on this point. Wimpy, indecisive marketing is the surest way to take this company down the crapper. Particularly inexcusable for a company with so many good stories and a product *used* by ad and media agencies.
