My recollection is that ADSL was $60 / month plus an install fee of around $150. There would of course be long distance charges for calling servers outside the local calling area.

The options in my area; San Ramon California are: dial up access to an ISP $20, cable modem access $40, or ADSL access $60. I'm not sure of the monthly charge for ISDN because it is billed directly to my employer.
