LVG happy about IBM's Y2K prospects , IBM $599 desktop , INTC clone

L Gerstner could hardly contain himself on CNBC's Business Center Friday as he addressed IBM's Y2K prospects for added revenue .

IBM evidently has the staff and Y2K answers . Can't help but believe IBM will be vending OS Y2K modifications plus sorts and compilers.

Following up on IBM iSeries ThinkPads for $1500 , IBM is launching a $600 desktop in time for XMAS :

>>" In early November, IBM will launch an Aptiva PC for $599 that comes with a 300-MHz chip made by IBM but based on a design from National Semiconductor's Cyrix division, according to sources close to IBM. " <<

And ... IBM is getting set to clone INTC CPUs :

>> " Nonetheless, IBM signed a technology licensing agreement with ST Microelectronics which could give IBM the opportunity to once again get back into the market for Intel clone chips.

ST has its own Intel clone chip, which IBM can use under the agreement, said sources. <<

Thought a full moon brought Jules and friends to this thread but maybe this time its IBM's bad news for INTC holders .
