>I'll go for a convenient file from a frequent poster here. Who certainly isn't a leftist.<
Your citations of statements, presumably by JLA are, of course, taken out of their original contexts, and since they have been repeated in the course of an emotional debate, I cannot help but consider that their meanings may have been altered. Nevertheless, one can certainly be a non-leftist who uses leftist tactics (grin).
Some here may think it never appropriate to use fallacy, and in some contexts this is true. Nevertheless in others, it is entirely reasonable to be unreasonable. I sometimes employ intentional fallacy to submit statements compatible with the lunacy of my opponent, and after concluding that reasoning with him is futile, I may use nothing but fallacy in my dealings with him.
If you have difficulty with fallacious attacks, then I suggest you never use them. Then you would at least have some sort of logical ground upon which to stand when you complain. Otherwise whenever, again, whenever you use fallacy, specifically the ad hominem, however craftily or subtly you use it (and so many here are in the habit of using it, it seems they do not know when they do), then you enter the realm of pure verbal Darwinism and must accept all of its putridity.

A funny statement, especially when turned around. |
