Its common practice to in the storage business to work with multiple media suppliers. Floppies, tape, CDs all are supplied through multiple channels.

Iomega achieves several powerful advantages by developing Mitsubishi as a second source: 1) Multiple vendors are much better to ensure a constant supply of reliable media 2) a little competition in media helps spur technology improvements 3) pricing is always better when two vendors are present 4) Iomega doesn't have to help the Sony/Fuji product by providing a volume basis for the media

Iomega is doing the right thing by developing a valuable second source. Its just good business. Its also laughable to compare Nomai developed media to media developed by a company with the funding and skills of Mitsubishi chemical.
