Mikros Systems sees earnings improvement
PRINCETON, N.J., Oct 23 (Reuters) - Technology company Mikros Systems Corp. said that preliminary figures for the year ended Dec. 31, 1997, point to an improvement over the prior year.
Preliminary revenues grew to $5,097,000 and a preliminary loss narrowed to $605,000, or a loss of $0.05 per share.
This compares with revenues of $859,100 and a loss of $1,447,641, or a loss $0.18 per share, for the year ended Dec.31, 1996.
''The audit got held up because our company sold its military contracts in the second quarter of 1998,'' said Patricia A. Bird, a Mikros spokesperson. ''The auditors were looking through a lot of paperwork.''
Mikros said it is focusing on developing data transmission techniques using the AM radio band. The company plans to offer a product to consumers that will provide inexpensive wireless data delivery for car radios and pagers.
The product will be marketed in North America through Mobile Broadcasting Corp., which is jointly owned by Mikros and Wayne, Pa.-based Safeguard Scientifics Inc. (NYSE:SFE - news).
In addition, the company said its board of directors has appointed Thomas J. Meaney as president, replacing Stephen C. Denty.
Mikros develops wireless data transmission techniques and equipment that are used on AM and FM radio stations to transmit digital data without interfering with the regular broadcast. |
