With OEX options it's a little more complicated than that. You can be up thousands, then down thousands five minutes later. Also there are sayings "a bird in hand", "never let a winning trade become a losing one..", etc. How do you know that little down trend isn't the start of a slide? How do you know that up tick isn't a sucker rally? Things are more complicated with volatile instruments. Many times I have tried to get higher profits with these things only to see a sharp reversal or pre-close sell off and lose everything..

I think you have to set realistic profit goals and try and keep them, as well as minimizing losses with stops.

BTW: I traded Zitel again yesterday - bought Jan. puts at 3 5/8, sold at 7. This is getting to be a nice trading stock. I'll buy puts next time it pumps up into the 50s.
