Q3, I'd be the first to admit that I am not an OS internals type. Neither am I a metalurgical engineer, yet I continue to use cars. Given that you are an internals expert could you offer what will replace MVS within the next 18 months? If you had to spend 8 hours doing research I assume that you've never actually used MVS? Regardless of what inherent flaws MVS (or any other OS) has, for its time, it does the job. Twenty/twenty hindsight, tempered with the wisdom of a student's experience is certainly apt to judge MVS harsely. And what would you offer in its place... TODAY. Remember... your entire job as a student is to learn. Out in the working world, DOING what you already know comes first and the luxury of learning new stuff is far down on the todo list.
