The Falklands: "British Gas will attempt to revive its partnership with YPF, the Argentine oil and gas group, for offshore Falklands Islands exploration, at a meeting between President Menem and David Varney, the company's chief executive next week. BG and YPF failed to win any acreage in the first Falklands licensing round." From Saturday Telegraph, October 24 Monkfish's note (from Eye-to-Eye discussion forum): Now why would BG be interested, after all the recent failed drilling, if the prospects were not good; or perhaps we have'nt been told the full story. Why is president Menem being so friendly, and encouraging better relations with the UK; if there are significant amounts of oil in the Falklands it is obvious that our two countries are going to have to have a working relationship if either of us are to be be able to remove the oil without hindrance.
