Hi,
Mr. Lichello says in his book that the number of shares is irrelevant. AIM works on a percentage basis. For people who are used to dealing with full service brokers and like to buy shares in 100 lots this seems to create an insurmountable barrier.
Actually with discount brokers and the internet this is no longer a problem. One of my AIM stocks is Merck, currently at $130+ a share. My account is bigger than this, but even if I only had to sell 5 shares at $130, with a $12 broker's fee that would be less than 2% of the total transaction for a commission. When you consider that the $650 has been sitting in MMF earning about 5% the broker's fee is not a factor to be considered.
